For resident pet owners, a new year requires securing a new town-issued dog tag, since all dog licenses expire annually on Dec. 31. The 2013 dog tags are now available in the town clerk’s office, according to Assistant Town Clerk Laurie A. Davis. The cost is $10 or less and proof of neutering or spaying and rabies vaccination is required. For any dog 6 months or older, a dog license is required. Also, any dog not on a leash must be under visual and voice control at all times while out and about in Norwell, a law enforced by the part-time animal control officer, who takes unruly dogs to the Scituate Animal Shelter. end of story marker
