Youk traded
It was an open secret that animosity existed between Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis and first-year manager Bobby Valentine. With the emergence of rookie phenom Will Middlebrooks, Youk became expendable, and was traded to the White Sox in late June. He received a standing ovation in his last game for the Sox at Fenway and during his first plate appearance for the White Sox at Fenway a couple weeks later.
