BOSTON (AP) — A high-ranking federal prosecutor in Massachusetts has been confirmed as an associate justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court.
James Lang has worked as chief of the criminal division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office since 2010. He has been an assistant U.S. Attorney since 1993.
The Governor’s Council confirmed Lang’s appointment Wednesday.
U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz said Lang has been an ‘‘extraordinary resource’’ to the U.S. Attorney’s office. He has overseen prosecutions in the areas of terrorism, violent crime, public corruption, health care fraud and white-collar crime.
Before joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Lang was an assistant district attorney in Norfolk County and an instructor at Boston University School of Law.
