The Board of Selectmen earlier this month presented a proclamation to the Open Gate Garden Club of Chelmsford in honor of the organization’s 50th anniversary. Founded in 1962, the club has more than two dozen active members. It maintains plantings at the Perham Corner traffic island, decorates the Historical Society’s Barrett-Byam Homestead for its annual Christmas open house, sponsors environmental education programs, and provides workshops at the Horne Home, an assisted living facility. The club is affiliated with National Garden Clubs and the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. For more information, visit gcfm.org/opengategardenclub. end of story marker
