BOSTON (AP) — The MBTA’s new general manager is spending her first day on the job.

Beverly Scott takes over for Jonathan Davis, who has served as interim general manager of the Boston-area transit system for more than a year and now returns to his former position as chief financial officer.

Scott spent a portion of her first day greeting customers at stations on the Blue and Orange lines in Boston.

She also formally marked the installation of countdown clocks that will let customers know how long before the next train arrives. There are now 190 such clocks in 24 MBTA stations.

Scott takes over the MBTA after five years at the helm of the transit system in Atlanta.end of story marker
