DENVER (AP) — The Denver Pioneers scored three goals in the first period and coasted to a 6-0 win over Boston University at Saturday’s U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Face-Off Classic.
Six different players scored goals for Denver, which snapped an eight-game winless streak, its longest since 1999.
Juho Olkinuora made 29 saves to snap Denver’s three-game losing streak against the sixth-ranked Terriers (10-6-0).
Shawn Ostrow’s power-play goal at 4:59 of the first was the first of three goals over the next five minutes. Zac Lamaza and Quentin Shore also scored, making it 3-0.
Nick Shore had a power-play goal in the second and the Pioneers (10-6-5) took a 4-0 lead into the third period.
Matt O'Connor made 32 saves for the Terriers.
Denver was 3-for-8 on the power play.
