ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a woman has been struck and killed by a Boston-bound Amtrak train in Attleboro in southeastern Massachusetts.

A spokesman for the MBTA, which owns the tracks, said it’s not immediately known why she was on the tracks. MBTA police are investigating the incident, which happened after 1 p.m. near Newport Avenue and the South Attleboro train station.

MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said one track was reopened at about 2:20 p.m., but there were residual delays for Amtrak and the MBTA’s commuter rail service between Providence and Stoughton, Mass., on the shared track.
