Eamon McCarthy Earles, author of “Franklin: From Puritan Precinct to 21st Century ‘Edge City,’ ” will deliver a slide show and talk about his book and the town’s history next Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Franklin Historical Museum, 80 West Central St. Earles will also be signing copies of the book. “Franklin” is the true story of how one town was transformed from a small hamlet into one of the fastest-growing municipalities in America. Earles, 18, a Franklin native and freshman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, spent hundreds of hours researching the town and interviewing longtime residents to compile the first local history written in more than a generation. “Local history is always interesting because it gives the local perspective on global events,” Earles said.
