The Kingston Conservation Commission will lead a series of six winter hikes on trails through town conservation land. The new program is intended to encourage residents to take advantage of the town’s green space and get outdoors during the winter. Each hike will take approximately 1 to 1½ hours and will cover 1 to 2 miles. Trail maps with estimated distances will be provided before each hike. The first takes place Saturday, and more will follow on Jan. 26, Feb. 9 and 23, and March 9 and 23. All hikes begin at 10 a.m., and all ages are welcome. Hikers must register beforehand and pay a $5-per-family fee, either in person at the recreation department or by mail to the Town of Kingston Recreation Department, Reed Community House, Summer Street, Kingston, MA 02364.
