BOSTON (AP) — House Republicans have re-elected state Rep. Bradley Jones of North Reading to serve as minority leader for the 2013-2104 session.
Jones is entering his 10th term in the House and was first elected Republican leader in 2002. He said in a statement on Thursday that the GOP minority will press for ‘‘creative and fiscally responsible solutions’’ to the state’s financial challenges.
Democrats outnumber Republicans by a more than 4-to-1 margin in the House.
Reps. George Peterson of Grafton, Bradford Hill of Ipswich, Elizabeth Poirier of North Attleboro and Vinny deMacedo of Plymouth will also hold Republican leadership posts.
DeMacedo, the ranking Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee, is calling on Democrats to join Republicans in opposing any statewide tax increase.
