The Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library have announced the schedule for the Fourth Annual Foreign Film Festival. The movies will be shown on Sunday at the library, 609 Main St., during February. Each showing is at 2 p.m. Among the films scheduled this year are: Feb. 3, “The Star Maker,” a 1995 Italian film about a likable scam artist who poses as a talent scout and sells screen tests to locals in Sicily who dream of escaping their rural lives and becoming stars; Feb. 10, the “Temptress Moon,” a 1997 Chinese film about a young man’s obsession with his cousin, on the eve of the 1911 Chinese Revolution; Feb. 17, the Dutch film “Twin Sisters,” a 2002 movie set during World War II about twin 6-year-old sisters who are split up and sent off to live with different family members – one to an upper middle classaunt in Holland, the other to a German uncle’s farm; Feb. 24, “Caramel,” a 2008 Lebanese movie that follows the lives and loves of five women whose paths cross at a beauty parlor where their issues include an affair, an engagement, and dalliances with the customers. All films are presented in their original language with English subtitles. Each movie will be followed by a discussion period. Popcorn will be provided. Please bring your own beverage.
