Medical "sharps" disposal program

Holliston residents can now comply with a state law banning disposal of needles, syringes, and lancets in household trash by dropping them at the Holliston Family Pharmacy on Washington Street.  The medical “sharps,” used to inject medicine into people and pets, must be in quart containers designated for them before being deposed in the collection box Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is a partnership between the pharmacy and the Holliston Board of Health. The law, which went into effect on July 1, aims to keep potentially harmful products from the waste stream.
