Two Braintree bars could face sanctions from the town’s Board of Licensing Commissioners after allegedly overserving a patron. According to reports from Braintree Officer Jack Twohig, who investigated the alleged violations, two Weymouth brothers visited The Landing Pub and Four Square Restaurant and Bar on Sept. 14 for the younger brother’s 21st birthday. During that time, the younger brother became intoxicated and got into a fight with his older brother. The incident led the Licensing Board to call managers from both establishments to a hearing last Tuesday. Both bars denied any wrongdoing and said they do not serve intoxicated patrons. However, the Landing Pub did not bring anyone to the hearing who was there the night of the incident, and Four Square did not bring any documentation to contradict the brothers’ claims. The hearing was continued to Feb. 12 at 1 p.m., with board chairman Joseph Powers strongly encouraging both to bring more evidence. Both bars could face suspensions if found guilty of overserving.
