The Planning Board recently granted Edens, the owner of the Burlington Crossroads shopping center, permits to upgrade the 34 Middlesex Road property. The $7 million to $8 million project follows a $15 million upgrade Edens completed last year at Middlesex Commons, another shopping center the company owns on the Middlesex Turnpike. The Burlington Crossroads project calls for a new parking lot; new landscaping, lighting, signs, and storefronts; new outdoor seating areas for an existing Panera Bread and Outback Steakhouse;  and plans for new restaurants. It also provides for interior improvements for new restaurants and other retailers. At the same meeting Jan. 17, the board closed a hearing into an application by Peach Orchard Place LLC for a special permit and site plan approval to construct 60 additional apartments and a single-family home at Beacon Village, off Beacon St. The board plans to vote on the application at its meeting on Thursday.
