READING, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say six people inside a Starbucks in Reading (REH'-ding) escaped uninjured when a man drove his car through the coffee shop’s window.
Police Lt. Richard Robbins tells The Boston Globe (http://bo.st/12lnvX8 ) that the man hit the gas pedal instead of the break while pulling into a parking spot in front of the Starbucks on Sunday morning. Robbins says the car went through the window and struck the area where customers fix their coffee.
He says it was ‘‘a miracle’’ that no one was injured.
Fire Capt. Phil Boisvert says the car also hit the counter and pushed it into the area where employees take and prepare orders. He says the four employees working weren’t in that area and the two customers in the shop were leaving at the time of the crash.
The unidentified driver was charged with operating to endanger.
