Interested in new school

School Superintendent Liz Sorrell is preparing a statement of the town’s interest in building a new elementary school. The statement will be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which helps pay for school building projects. The town previously filed a statement of interest seeking state help in replacing the elementary school and the state authority had classified it as a high priority. But the state removed Carver from its funding list after several attempts to demonstrate local support for the project failed at the ballot box. The new statement of interest, detailing the condition of the school, must be approved by the Board of Selectmen before it is submitted to the authority, which must receive the statement by April 10.
