SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — An Easthampton man has been convicted of counterfeiting charges.

Federal prosecutors say 36-year-old Shayne Pancione pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Springfield to a charge of manufacturing and distributing counterfeit United States currency.

Prosecutors say Pancione manufactured and then distributed counterfeit $20 bills in Easthampton and Southampton during August and September of 2011.

He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing scheduled for April 1.end of story marker
