CANTON, Mass. (AP) — Police in Canton say they have arrested a New York man who received nearly $1 million worth of marijuana that had been shipped across the country.
Thomas Jin Kim was held on $400,000 bail after pleading not guilty on Tuesday in Stoughton District Court to trafficking charges.
The 30-year-old Kim was arrested Friday outside a shipping company after receiving 252 pounds of vacuum-sealed pot that had been shipped in plywood boxes from California. Shipping company employees became suspicious and alerted police after receiving several similar shipments since November, all picked up by Kim. Another shipment also arrived Saturday.
Canton Chief Kenneth Berkowitz tells The Patriot Ledger (http://bit.ly/XMsCbj) it was the town’s biggest pot bust in memory and the drugs were likely intended for sale in the Boston area.
