Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone is tired of seeing snowy streets dotted with furniture used as parking space savers, and the city will not put up with the practice any more, he said. “Don’t put the furniture on the street. Not only does it look bad, it’s a public safety hazard,” Curtatone said days after the Feb. 8 and 9 snow storm that dumped more than two feet of snow on the city. City workers will be instructed to throw out any chairs, tables, or anything else left in the street to save a cleared out parking spot, he said. “It is against city ordinance and it will not be tolerated,” Curtatone said.
