Organ recital: This month’s organ recital at Unity Church features warmly recalled love songs heard from 1897 to the present all played on the 1875 Hook and Hastings pipe organ. Local artist show: Cohasset artist Jan McElhinny will have a solo show at the James Library Art Gallery opening on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The opening reception is free and open to the public, and work will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the library. The show is on view through March 28. The Cohasset resident is a gallery artist at South Shore Art Center and a member of their advisory board. She travels extensively for workshops and works both realistically and abstractly in oils. Proceeds will help support the 2013 community service trip to Tamahu, Guatemala. On last year’s trip to Tamahu, the students traveled into the mountains to assist indigenous families with home construction and repairs, coffee harvesting, and other service projects.
