Storm cleanup continues

Marshfield is still working to clean up from this month’s blizzard. The Marshfield Emergency Management Agency said last Tuesday that the transfer station will accept tree debris from residents with a transfer station permit, and from businesses by weight. According to Thomas Reynolds, superintendent of public works, officials were assessing the damage, which included significant beach erosion. Some areas still did not have telephone service because poles were being replaced, he said, and melting snow had exposed tree limbs on the roadsides. Recently built sea walls withstood the storm well, he said, but a few older walls sustained minor damage. Repair to beaches and sand dunes will likely wait until spring, when the town can plant dune grass and replace fencing to help stabilize the landscape, he said.
