This story is from BostonGlobe.com, the only place for complete digital access to the Globe.
High 5
Maddie Foote , Duxbury: The 5-foot-5 sophomore guard guaranteed her senior teammates at least one more game in the tourney with a team-high 21 points vs. Hopkinton — the difference in a 65-44 Division 2 South win Wednesday night.
Jen Gemma , Fontbonne: A 29-point, nine-rebound performance from the Bentley-bound senior forward ousted Sharon in the Division 2 first round Wednesday. Her team-high in points nearly outscored the Eagles in the 61-36 Ducks win.
Kelly Martin , Scituate: It's been a while since the four-year starting point guard was a player of the week, but that doesn't mean she hasn't put up numbers. Her 26 points in a 65-56 Division 2 South win over Falmouth was the latest feat in a season in which she has averaged more than 20 per game.
Matt Nicholson , Rockland: For once, a Bulldog outdid Division 1-bound teammate Tyler Gibson. The 6-foot-3 senior forward netted a team-high 20 points in a first-round win over Westwood, 62-47, while Gibson put up 17.
Tony Pires , Carver: The 14th seed in the Division 4 tourney moved into the quarterfinals thanks to 27 points from the senior guard in a 68-51 road win over Pope John Paul II.
