Election nomination papers due March 12

Nomination papers are due on Tuesday for those seeking to run in the annual Georgetown town election (which will coincide with the state primary) on April 30. To be listed on the ballot, a candidate needs to return the nomination papers with the signatures of at least 37 registered voters to the town clerk’s office at Town Hall, on Library Street. Voters will select candidates for moderator, selectman, town clerk, assessor, highway surveyor, School Committee, Water Commission, Light Commission, Housing Authority, Planning Board, and Peabody Library Board of Trustees. At press time, there were races for selectman, where Douglas Dawes had pulled papers for the seat held by incumbent Philip Trapani, and for Housing Authority, where incumbent Bertha Foster and challenger David Schauer have both taken out papers.
