City to offer summer internships

The city will seek to hire about 20 paid interns for the summer, after the City Council’s Finance Committee gave initial approval to funding for the program last week. The city hired around 15 interns last summer and is hoping to expand the program this year, said Michael Berry, an aide to Mayor Arthur Vigeant. Berry said the interns will work in the mayor’s office, at the Council on Aging, and in other city departments. “You really can get exposure to almost any field you could be interested in, and see things from the public perspective,” Berry said. Internship applications will be available on the city’s website, and at the Marlborough Public Library, and will be distributed to local colleges, Berry said.
