City to host state officials

The state’s Municipal Affairs Coordinating Cabinet has made Peabody the site of one of a series of five public meetings it is holding around the state this spring. Hosted by Mayor Ted Bettencourt, the session in Peabody will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at City Hall. Established by Governor Deval Patrick in a 2007 executive order, the Municipal Affairs Coordinating Cabinet is a group of state officials, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray, that works to coordinate ways state government can strengthen its partnership with local government. The latest series of meetings will feature Cabinet secretaries highlighting key transportation and education investments the Patrick administration is proposing. Other topics of discussion will include regionalization and implementing and expanding the use of technology for local government. Area local officials and interested residents are invited to attend.
