Evan J. Jacobs, a paramedic who previously worked for a private ambulance company, has been hired as a Marshfield firefighter, Fire Chief Kevin Robinson said. Jacobs replaces a firefighter who left the department in January, and will receive four weeks of in-house training, including a week on an ambulance, two weeks of basic fire training, and another week assigned to the group of firefighters with whom he will be working. Jacobs will begin shift work in May and attend the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in Stow as soon as a seat is available, the chief said. Jacobs lived in Marshfield for many years, graduated from Marshfield High School in 2004, and recently moved to Scituate, according to the chief.
