Winchester will be one of hundreds of communities across the country taking a stand against racism on Friday in support of the YWCA’s national Stand Against Racism campaign. The campaign mobilizes organizations across the country to acknowledge that racism still exists and that we must stand together to work for racial equity. The YWCA seeks to eliminate racism by casting a spotlight on the issue through this annual event. Winchester’s participation in the campaign is being spearheaded by the Winchester Multicultural Network. All ages are welcome to participate in the event, which will be held from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. on Winchester’s Town Common. Established in 1991, the mission of the Winchester Multicultural Network is to promote the recognition, understanding, and appreciation of diversity; advocate for each and every person’s civil rights; and confront intolerance.
