Town Meeting voted Monday to approve $4.2 million for coastal infrastructure, including a 1,131-foot section of replacement sea wall along Surf Avenue, replacement of rocks used to minimize erosion at Hewitt’s Point, and design work for another section of sea wall. The request was reduced from $5.175 million because bids for the Surf Avenue work came in lower than expected. Also approved were Tasers for police, a temporary moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries, and a 20-year agreement to purchase solar power from No Fossil Fuels LLC. The solar agreement is expected to save the town about $4 million in electricity costs over 20 years, Town Administrator Rocco Longo said. The private solar facility being constructed at a former landfill will also bring the town about $52,000 per year in property taxes, he said.
