Hingham Middle School’s assistant principal, Derek Smith, has been chosen to become principal when Rodger Boddie retires this summer. The early appointment is meant to facilitate the transition, Superintendent Dorothy Galo said. “Derek’s appointment at this time will allow additional time for collaboration, sharing, and mentoring and construction-related transition planning with Roger,” Galo said, referring to work on the new Hingham Middle School occurring right next door.
