Wellesley police on Sunday identified a 10-year-old boy who drowned in Morses Pond Saturday afternoon as Alexander Glennon, of Manchester, N.H.
In a statement posted to the department’s official website, police said Glennon and his family had been visiting friends in Wellesley when the boy went missing at the pond just before 6 p.m. Saturday.
Around 7:15 p.m. Chris Larsen and Scott Smith, members of the Wellesley Fire Department Dive Team, found Glennon in the pond, approximately 30 feet from shore, police said. Smith brought Glennon ashore, where firefighters and paramedics began administering CPR and other emergency medical treatment, police said.
Efforts to revive Glennon continued as he was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital and after his arrival, police said.
“Unfortunately, they were unable to resuscitate him,” said Lieutenant Marie Cleary of the Wellesley police in a phone interview Saturday night.
