SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police say seven people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Springfield that left the window of a bar riddled with bullet holes and led to what police call a drug distribution operation.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at the Punta Cana bar at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. No one was injured.
Based on witness accounts, officers looked for a black Jeep that was found about a mile away.
Responding officers spotted an armed man leaving a store. The man ran inside with officers in pursuit. The suspect and four others inside were taken into custody. Police found three guns and a large amount of cocaine inside.
Police also found what they call a marijuana-growing operation in a nearby apartment they believe is connected and arrested two more people.
