The town is now on Facebook and Twitter. Tewksbury can be reached on Facebook as “Town of Tewksbury” and on Twitter as “townoftewksbury.” “We are trying to reach as many residents as possible with information,” Town Manager Richard Montuori said of the town’s venture into social media. He said the town already had a municipal website and the CodeRed system that allows the Police Department to communicate by phone and e-mail with residents during emergencies and to provide other notifications. “But the reality is that people utilize Facebook and Twitter more than anything. So it’s just another tool . . . we are going to use.” Montuori said that the town’s Facebook and Twitter sites, which will be managed by his office, are designed to be informational rather than discussion forums.
