It’s that time of year again when collectors flock to New England to vie at three major auctions for decoys and other bird carvings, many of them from important collections.
The first of the annual two-day sales is Decoys Unlimited’s auction next Sunday at 11 a.m. and Monday, July 29, at 10 a.m. at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis. Copley Fine Art Auction’s Sporting Sale follows on July 30-31 at 11 a.m. on both days at the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor. The Guyette, Schmidt & Deeter auction is on Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. and Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel in New Hampshire.
Among a wide selection of birds at all price levels are some rare examples expected to bring six-figure sums. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
