Traffic is once again emerging as a focus of contention as the Gutierrez Co. pursues a revised plan to develop a long-vacant site in Burlington.
After Town Meeting last year shot down its plan to bring a Target store and a restaurant to the site, the Burlington-based firm’s new proposal is to build an office building on the 15.3-acre site south of the routes 3 and 128 interchange.
“There were two messages we heard loud and clear from Town Meeting members last year,” said Scott Weiss, a managing director for Gutierrez. He said the company was asked for the site to be developed as first-class office space, and that the project include the same transit improvements Gutierrez promised for the commercial project, but would generate much less traffic.
