The family of Jennifer Martel, the young mother stabbed to death in Waltham last week, said they are awaiting the release of her body by state officials in order to make funeral arrangements.
“Right now, we’re not sure when we’ll be able to bury her,” said her uncle, Richard Martel Jr., who is acting as a family spokesman, on Sunday.
Jared Remy, the son of popular Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, has been charged with fatally stabbing Martel, his longtime girlfriend, Thursday night at their home after an argument.
Martel’s family is also awaiting word on whether they will gain custody of Martel’s 4-year-old daughter, who was in the house at the time of the killing. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
