School shooting staged at old high school for SWAT training

Jilted by his ex-girlfriend, John Smith decided to teach her a lesson. So shortly after 7 a.m., the East Bridgewater High senior detonated a pipe bomb at the school’s entrance, seriously injuring a school bus driver and two students, then shot and killed the school resource officer and another student.

Eventually, he barricaded himself in a classroom and took seven students hostage.

The gruesome scene, complete with pools of fake blood and prosthetics, was part of a training exercise last week scripted by East Bridgewater Police Sergeant Michael W. McLaughlin for the South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s SWAT team.
