Westborough is moving closer toward finalizing a $2.2 million deal to purchase the former Westborough State Hospital property from the state.
Last month the town reached an agreement to acquire the 95-acre parcel and several buildings on Lyman Street for $2.2 million, financed at zero interest over 10 years. The annual cost would be about $220,000, according to Town Manager Jim Malloy.
Residents will vote whether to approve the acquisition at Town Meeting on Oct. 21, and local officials are conducting a series of public meeting to familiarize residents with the proposal. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
