The city is nearing completion of its project to improve Glendale Park. The renovated park features three newly rebuilt fields — one for baseball and two for softball — along with updated irrigation and drainage systems. The three fields will remain closed until spring 2014 in order to allow the turf to take root. New athletic field lighting and separate pedestrian lighting will illuminate areas of the park, such as the perimeter walkways. The existing tot lot has been completely overhauled. The park’s overall appearance has also seen a significant upgrade, with new entrance areas, ornamental fencing, decorative lampposts, drinking fountains, standardized benches and trash receptacles, and new retaining walls, flower beds, and planters. The project was part of the city’s capital improvement program. The city plans a formal ribbon-cutting soon.
