This is a summary. To read the whole story subscribe to BostonGlobe.com

Registration opened Sept. 14 for the Marshfield Recreation Department’s fall programs. Director Ned Bangs said highlights include a trip to New Hampshire’s White Mountains on Oct. 20 and then next year, a March 2014 kayak trip to the Exuma Cays in the Bahamas. On Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the recreation center at 900 Ferry St., the department will host an open house for families with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to familiarize them with programs for children, including a variety of free playgroups. Activities for all ages fill a 27-page brochure available on the department website under “Brochures & Documents.” Among the new classes this year is a hula hoop clinic for ages 7 to 12. Adult sports include badminton, basketball, and volleyball.
