New homes, kitchens, and solar panels are on the increase in some of the state’s most affluent communities, including Concord, which is on pace to break a record for the most building permits filed in one year.
Concord Building Commissioner John Minty said construction activity has been non-stop this year as developers and homeowners have regained confidence in the economy. Between Sept. 19, 2012, and Sept. 19, 2013, 615 permits had been filed, which is 15 percent more than last year at this time, Minty said. Based on that pace, Concord is set to surpass the town’s previous high of 800 permits in one year.
“I’ve been here for 28 years and I’ve never seen it like this,’’ said Minty. “It will be a major event by the end of the year. All in all, it’s quite a year in Concord.’’ Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
