Library to host college information night

The Swampscott Public Library has scheduled an Oct. 2 program featuring experts discussing different aspects of the college application process. Emily Barnum and Jennifer Magary of the Swampscott High School guidance department will give a presentation on the college application process and the guidance department’s role in it. Swampscott High English department chairwoman Joanna Ganci will offer advice on writing essays and obtaining teacher recommendations. North Shore Community College’s Educational Opportunity Center educational adviser Yessika Hurtado, will explain FAFSA, Profile, and financial aid. Sherry Brass, director of pre-college programs for the Boston area for Kaplan Test Prep, will discuss standardized testing. No registration is required. Students and parents are welcome. The presentation is scheduled for the library, on Burrill Street, at 6:30 p.m.
