The sixth annual “Discover the Woods” 5K-race and one-mile run/walk will take place Oct. 6 at Holly Hill Farm. The 5K begins at 9 a.m., and the one-mile starts an hour later. Both events will follow a trail through the 130 acres of woods surrounding the farm’s three acres of organically grown vegetable, flower, and herb gardens. Proceeds from the races benefit the Frank H. White Scholarship Fund, which was created in memory of the founder of the Friends of Holly Hill Farm, the nonprofit education center that uses the farm at 236 Jerusalem Road. The fund was used this past year to help finance school field trips and summer camp for needy children, and for a summer program for teenagers to grow food for Father Bill’s Place in Quincy. More information and registration is available at www.hollyhillfarm.org.
