Food pantry 5K run/walk

Hundreds of people will take to the streets of Middleborough today to raise money to feed the hungry and awareness of the challenges faced by the nation’s needy. The Second Annual Food Pantry 5K Run/Walk is organized by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to support the food pantry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Middleborough. Donations of canned food will be accepted at the event, which begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the John T. Nichols Middle School, 112 Tiger Drive, for the 10 a.m. event. Food and beverages will be served after the race. Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female finisher in a variety of categories from junior, at age 18 and under, to grand veterans, for those ages 70 and older.
