On Oct. 8, the James Library and Center for the Arts will hold an open house to thank the town of Norwell for providing money to renovate the 140-year-0ld building. It’s a reminder of the many ways the stately Victorian building has served the town.

“Every time you drive by, it’s a visual reminder of Norwell’s history and you get to enjoy this historic, beautiful building,” said Alison Demong, chairwoman of Norwell’s Community Preservation Committee. “And then you get to go inside and enjoy all the offerings that make it a destination in our town.”
