In the quaint seaside community of Scituate, commercial properties are outnumbered by residential parcels by nearly 46 to 1, and despite the revitalization of many commercial parts of town in recent years, economic development still lags behind that in other South Shore communities.

Yet locals are hopeful that the town is on the threshold of growth. The catalyst could be a Metropolitan Area Planning Council study that will look at how much business can be brought to Scituate and where it can be bolstered.
