Weather permitting, work is expected to start next week on the new Cohasset Sailing Club in Cohasset Harbor, according to architect Susan Hoadley, whose firm, Hoadley Martinez Architects of Cohasset, designed the structure. The old clubhouse was razed last month to make way for a 785-square-foot building and a 490-square-foot storage annex. Hoadley said that sometime in December, the main post-and-beam structure will be lifted into place and put together like a puzzle in a traditional “barn-raising” that will be open to the public. Money for the $550,000 project came from private donations and the town’s Community Preservation funds. The 53-year-old club sits on town-owned land and is open to “anyone in Cohasset who wants to learn to sail, regardless of their ability to pay,” Hoadley said.
