A 34-6 third-quarter cushion over Blue Hills Regional had evaporated.

And with eight minutes, 33 seconds to go in regulation of Friday’s Division 6 South semifinal, the Cohasset High football team was clinging to a slim 34-28 lead.

The Skippers (8-1) then turned the game, and their season, over to a trio of seniors up front: center Will Lucas, right guard Jack McElgunn, and right tackle Mickey Barry. Following their crunching blocks, Cohasset converted eight first downs on the ensuing drive, capped by a 2-yard TD run from Ryan Gillis en route to a 42-28 win.

“We were able to move the ball pretty much liberally,” said Cohasset coach Peter Afanasiw, singling out the work of his line.
