Solar farm opens at old landfill

The Board of Selectmen and the town’s Energy Committee say a photovoltaic solar-power facility at the town’s closed landfill is ready to go into operation. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch Sudbury Solar One was held Wednesday at the transfer station on Boston Post Road. Energy Committee chairman Bill Braun said in an announcement on the milestone that the solar array is expected to generate 1.9 million kilowatt-hours of power annually through its 6,000 250-watt modules, and lower electricity bills for both municipal and school facilities.
