A local nonprofit organization is seeking donations to make an artistic statement in downtown Framingham, with plans for a mural by local painter Sorin Bica on the side of a building next to the railroad tracks and near the intersection of routes 126 and 135. The $27,000 project is being crowd-funded through the website Citizinvestor.com, which focuses on community-based campaigns. The Framingham Downtown Renaissance is spearheading the “Front Door Framingham Project” as a way to “establish a new identity for Downtown Framingham, home of the largest population of artists and creatives this side of Boston,” according to organization’s announcement on the campaign. Bica is a resident artist in the Bancroft Building’s Fountain Street Studios. In order for the project to receive the donations, the entire $27,000 must be pledged by a specific date; as of Wednesday, the fund contained $1,640 with 77 days to go . The money would cover Bica’s materials and labor. For more information, visit www.downtownframingham.com, or www.citizinvestor.com and search for “Downtown Framingham.” Bica’s website is www.sorinbica.com.
