This is a summary. To read the whole story subscribe to

The Carlisle Trails Committee has chosen the Estabrook Woods as the location for this year’s annual walk on the day after Thanksgiving. Highlights of the approximately two-hour walk will include the Estabrook and Kibbe cellar holes, lime quarries and lime kiln, Thoreau’s sawmill site, Mink Pond, and recent beaver activity. The walk begins Friday at 1 p.m. at Estabrook Road and Kibby Place; heavy rain would cancel the hike. For more information, contact Steve Tobin at or visit
